The Kootenay Robusters is a women's Dragon Boat Team, who practice here on beautiful Christina Lake.

Dragon boats originated hundreds of years ago in China, with competitions occurring locally. Dragon Boat Racing emerged as an international sport in 1976, beginning in Hong Kong.
In 1996, a Vancouver sports medicine specialist started a Dragon boat team consisting of breast cancer survivors, who joined together to paddle their dragon boat to the benefit of their physical health and social wellbeing. The Kootenay Robusters were then formed in 2001, with a team of cancer survivors, and associates to make up the numbers needed.
The Robusters practice 3 times a week, from April to September, as weather permits. They usually attend 2 festivals each year, in the Okanagan and sometimes further afield. In 2012, they ventured as far as San Francisco to participate in the International Dragon Boat Festival there!
From the viewpoint, you may be able to see their 40 foot long boat, laying in its hoist in front of one of the houses on the shore. If you are getting this cache on a Tuesday or Thursday evening, or a Saturday morning, you might be able to see the team - 20 or so ladies, all striving to keep in time and move the boat forward!
Paddles Up!
