It will be held in one of our favourite spots, "The Top of the World" A.K.A. Mamhead Point. The view from here is second to none. You can see Topsham, Blackdown Hills, Exton, Lympstone, Kenton, Powderham Castle, Starcross, Exmouth, Portland Bill and Dawlish Warren as well as other places.
The event will start at 1pm and we anticipate it to last about 2 hours. The event will end at 3pm.
The plan is to meet at "The Top of the World" which is at the headline co-ordinates. This is an approx. 0.3 mile walk from the Parking Waypoint. See also the Waypoint for the start of the footpath.
Once everybody has arrived we will be having a birthday picnic in Katie's honour and we hope to see as many of our Geocaching friends old and new (as well as new faces) as possible. Please bring your own picnics and take home your own rubbish. There are no bins at GZ so we suggest you bring a bag for rubbish so that you can take it home with you.
Once we've all eaten our picnics the fun bit starts. The kids will all be given party bags. The only problem is that they will all be empty. Fear not though because I will be giving the children a list of temporary 'dummy' caches with co-ordinates and hints so that they can find the items for their party bags in these caches. It is my hope that the grown-ups in attendance will be able to help the children with the use of their GPS units and caching instincts. We don't want any children going home empty-handed.
Once all the party bags are full (or all the goodies are gone) we will meet back at GZ for some birthday cake which, of course, we will provide and maybe a beautiful rendition of "Happy Birthday".
This will conclude the event.
Please could we ask that you let us know how many children in your group are intending to attend so that we can plan accordingly.
UPDATES: The cake will now be trackable so you can log how tasty it is (and believe me the girl who we get our cakes from never fails to amaze) and, as stated in the comments, there will be 'Pass the Parcel' for the children and 'Pass the Cache' for the adults
There are a few caches in the area (our newest cache has also now been published in time for the event) so maybe after the event you could go and grab a few more smiley faces.
