This is my second cache in this park. It just seemed so nice that it deserved a second look. Mengqing park is bounded by the Suzhou River on 3 sides. It was completed in July 2004 as a part of the Suzhou River pollution control project. I had seen this park once before from the other side of the river, one day when they had Dragon Boat races, but the park was reserved for VIPs and you could not get in.
It is a beautiful park, although some areas in need of renovation after 12 years. There is work going on to repair structures in the park. People come here to stroll and play. There is a museum on the site as well.
As always, in Shanghai, beware of the map offset. China uses a unique datum for its street maps, and the corrections don’t always get made when you look at a cache position on a map.
You may have issues with GPS signal in this area; I don't know why. Possibly reflections off the buildings across the river. The coordinates are accurate on Google Earth.
