A Mátyásfa
A nagymegyeri hagyomány szerint Mátyás király, mielőtt kiadta nagymegyer város kiváltságlevelét személyesen járt Nagymegyeren, hogy meggyőzödjön a nagymnegyeriek panaszáról. Sátra a mai termálfürdő sétányának elején az ún. Mátyásfánál volt felállítva. Ennél a fánál kötötte ki lovát. A fa ezért a város egyik szimbólumává vált és került be településünk címerébe.
Strom Mateja Corvina
Podľa veľkomederskej legendy kráľ Matej Corvin, pred udelením mestských privilégií osobne navštívil Veľký Meder, aby sa presvedčil o sťažnostiach Veľkomederčanov. Svoj stan si vraj postavil na mieste, kde teraz stojí strom nesúci jeho meno, o ktorý mal uviazaného koňa. Tento strom sa preto stal symbolom a súčasťou erbu násho mesta.
The Tree of King Matthias
According to the local legend, before giving out the charter of the town, King Matthias visited Nagymegyer in person, to make sure that the citizens' plea was rightful. His tent was put up in the entrance of the present Thermal Spa's promenade, next to the tree of King Matthias. It was this tree where he tied his horse. Consequently, the tree has become one of the symbols of the town and is also represented in the town's coat of arms.
