In a time past, this community center used to be known as the Queensburgh Town Hall, and for many of the aspiring performance creatives of the early 70's it was the gateway from school participation to the broader 'Real World' of performance.

Annual circuit play-offs in choral verse and musical comprehention would culminate in the big final held in this venue.

Of course, it helped that the architechtural structure of the venue reflected the quote 'cutting edge of building design at the time' endquote. Many is the young school child, adorned with new haircut and freshly pressed blouse, who would sit in the entrance foyer of the hall, fearfully awaiting the nod from the school master to allow said performer to walk down the evenly racked royal red padded backed chairs, following the blood maroon carpet to the two wooden staircases on either side of the huge imposing stage. Even the air bore with it the severe rich taste of Gravitas, and once the performance or item was offered, the slink shuffle out the side wings through the hall entrance to the undercovered reception apron with its angular support pillars and openess to the world from all four sides - this was the unprepared for second part of any submission. The awaiting until all participating schools had completed their offerings. Then the resumption into the hall, the relief at being able to sit inside the hallowed hall upon the comfortable chairs. The mantra drummed into the participants was that they were the standard bearers of their particular school, and that there exsisted a phantom force who would remove the scool off the face of the earth if fidgeting or whispering was detected - even at times if there were any sign of enjoyment. Such was the responsibility of post performance at Queensburgh Town Hall.

Indeed it was a solemn affair and all the school children proudly defended their schools from being spirited away by forcing themselves to behave impeccably.

This cache is a reminder of those moments of the past.
