Geocache Description:

In the early 80s, my brother moved to Alberta to take a better job. Before he left, any time I rode in his car he would have one song (see link) blasting from the stereo. Later, when I visited him in the Dinosaur Capital of the World (Drumheller), he was still playing this song! But I guess the novelty of paying no provincial sales tax wore off because after a few years in “The Drum”, he couldn’t wait to move back to BC!

You will find this cache alongside a very interesting little trail that was an unexpected pleasure to discover while looking for the Candy Forest. Centennial Trail winds alongside the hillside above the Sea-to-Sky highway from Lions Bay to Brunswick Beach. There are a few spots where you get peek-a-boo views of the Salish Sea, but the jewel in the crown is Reflection Loop. Its signage reads "Reflection Loop. Typically takes between 2 minutes to 2 hours", and if you choose to take the Loop you'll understand why.

If you head north from the posted parking (near the Lions Bay General Store and Cafe) you will cross a cool metal bridge over Alberta Creek. Back in February of 1983, after three days of heavy rain, a huge debris torrent swept down the creek bed. The fast-flowing water was pulling mud, rocks, and log debris with it from the higher elevations and this massive debris flow took out the old highway's wooden bridge and many drainage culverts before smashing into 4 houses and a trailer. Two youths who had been sleeping in that trailer were killed instantly.
