CASTELL DE CORNET
El castell de Cornet es troba en un petit turó prop del riu Cornet.Només se'n veuen alguns panys de l'antiga muralla i algunes parets interiors,si bé les runes encara amaguen alguna resta interessan.

El domini dels senyors de Balsareny es comprova en l'acta d'oblació que l'any 1032 féu Guifred de Balsareny,amb el consentiment del fill hereu Bernat Guifred de Balsareny,del seu fill Guillem al bisbe Oliba d'Osona i als canonges de la seu,a fi que fos canonge de Vic.Com a dotació es donava a la canonica vigatana diversos masos que tenia a la dominicatura de Castellet,i terra situada sobre l'esglesia de Cornet,a més donaven l'alou de Castell de Gaiá.Aquest lloc de Castell sembla que cal ubicar-lo als actuals limits de Sallent i Gaiá a la zona de l'Abellar de Cornet,ja que prop del riu Llobregat,i en terme de Gaiá es troba el moli de Castell.Fins i tot seria versemblant que l'actual mas de Vilagaiá fos continuador del castell o Castellet,i aquesta propietat fos unida als altres béns que els bisbes de Vic tingueren a Cornet.
