Geocache Description:

This easy puzzle type cache has been placed with the permission of the Brevard Humane Society. The clues will take you on a short walk around the property. When you arrive please park in the north area of the parking lot to save room for patients and possible adoptive parents. Cache is available 7 days a week between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm ONLY. No after hours caching. Employees are aware of the cache.

Sweet little Betty was an older dog with a heart problem. We never planned to have a dog and we had been fostering kittens for several years which was all we could handle. But the Humane Society reached out to us one summer and asked if we could fatten up Betty so she would be ready for adoption. We said yes and thus began the slow decline to becoming "foster failures". Betty was nicknamed Betty Spaghetti because she was so skinny. We brought her home gave her food and love and she soon became adoptable. By Halloween she was adopted, but sadly, shortly after Christmas she was returned skinnier than ever. I immediately brought Betty back home and to better health. But by April she was still not adopted. So for my birthday we decided to adopt her ourselves because in truth she must have been ours all along. Betty was a joy to have in the short time she was with us and she was my little shadow. Being a foster family for the Humane Society was an incredibly rewarding experience and I highly recommend it. It is a wonderful way to volunteer by providing short term care for kittens and puppies that are too young to be adopted as well as injured or sick animals. The Humane Society offers a low cost Spay/Neuter Wellness Clinic as well as the chapel where we brought Betty to be cremated. The landscaping around the Chapel, Ella's Walk , and the Canine Meet and Greet area at the front of the property were Boy Scout Eagle projects. My daughter and JoSpeech's daughter earned their Girl Scout Silver Award by installing cat walk shelves in the cat room inside the shelter. Take a look around the Humane Society of Brevard, perhaps you might decide to volunteer or adopt. Please remember to always spay and neuter. The cache was lovingly created with the help of JoSpeech and her hubbie and serves as a small memorial to my sweet Betty Spaghetti.
