About this cache
The cache you seek is located along a walking path connecting Crooked Lane and Renaissance Boulevard near one of the old quarries related to the Alan Wood Steel Co. superfund site. Once at GZ, look south and southeast to view the site (really not much to see) ;-)  The cache itself is not meant to be a hard find, but to make you aware of the local superfund site.  Don't worry, I won't lead you into danger!

About the Alan Wood Steel Co. Superfund Site
The 50-acre Crater Resources, Inc./Keystone Coke Co./Alan Wood Steel Co. site is located in Upper Merion Township, Pennsylvania. The site consists of four inactive quarries. Beginning in 1919, Alan Wood Steel Company disposed of wastes generated by its coking facility in Swedeland, Pennsylvania, in three of the quarries at the site. In 1977, Keystone Coke Company purchased Alan Wood Steel Company. The firm continued to dispose of wastes at the site until 1980, when all operations at the facility ceased. Site activities contaminated soil, sediment and groundwater with hazardous chemicals. Remedy construction is underway.

What's a Superfund?
A Superfund is the name given to the environmental program established to address abandoned hazardous waste sites. It is also the name of the fund established by the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980. This law was enacted in the wake of the discovery of toxic waste dumps such in the 1970s. It allows the EPA to clean up such sites and to compel responsible parties to perform cleanups or reimburse the government for EPA-lead cleanups.

The EPA’s Superfund program is dedicated to protecting public health and the environment, the Superfund program focuses on making a visible and lasting difference in communities, ensuring that people can live and work in healthy, vibrant places.
