Geocache Description:

The cache is a small container designed to blend in with the environment, and it is hidden at the Bluebell Hill lookout. Please do your best to leave it the way you found it! Should be accessable without disturbing any plants. Be careful to avoid the attention of bystanders as this is a relatively open space. BYO pen!

Bluebell Hill is a small park in Surrey Hills with a playground, a tennis club, and a lookout. This geocache is the spiritual successor to a previous one called "Surrey View". I felt like this park deserves another geocache, so I've taken it upon myself to revive it. While the hiding spot of this cache is similar, it is not exactly the same.

This lookout isn't exactly the best lookout in the Eastern suburbs, but it's one that has special meaning to me. It faces West, and when the weather is clear you can see quite a distance towards the city, and even out over the bay (if you're tall and you stand on the chairs like I do). It's generally a pretty quiet place, and I spent a fair bit of time here over the years, usually when I needed to get out of the house for a while. The playground isn't really anything special, unless you're my dog; she loves using the slide for some reason. There actually used to be a much cooler playground here, one designed for slightly older kids, but for some reason the council replaced it with the current one.

I spent a lot of time at Bluebell Hill when I was young, and I remember the bush-land next to the lookout used to be much more overgrown. As kids we used to play games using the maze of overgrown bushes to hide in, but unfortunately the local council has done a fair bit of work here in recent years clearing out many of the bushes and trees. Recent renovations have also replaced the wooden retaining wall that used to line the upper-path, with large stones

Also occasionally a good place for dogspotting.
