Widmeyer Memorial Park, located in the west end of Hancock, boasts five pavilions, multiple playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, a ball field, horseshoes, volleyball, plenty of parking, wheelchair access, a public swimming pool (in season) and restrooms. All are located along the banks of the serene Tonoloway Creek. The park is also home to the Hancock branch of the Washington County Free Library. And adjacent to the Library is the centerpiece War Memorial placed by the citizens of Hancock. Widmeyer is pet friendly. Please be considerate and clean up after your pet.

Hancock’s proximity to Interstates 68 and 70, the the Potomac River, the C&O Canal, and the Western Maryland Rail Trail (WMRT) allow easy access to many exciting outdoor pursuits. The WMRT is an inviting destination for bikers, hikers and roller bladers of all ages.
The Hancock vicinity and WMRT are well-populated with a variety geocaches for your enjoyment. Widmeyer Park itself is home to several caches as well. The cache you are seeking is regular smallish, able to handle swag trade items and travelers. Please replace the cache as you find it. Please do not seek this cache after park hours. Thank You.
