St. Cloud celebrates its 160th birthday the year this cache was placed. Several events are scheduled during the summer.
The city was incorporated in 1856, developing from three different settlements. These settlements, Upper Town, Middle Town, and Lower Town, were integrated by folks from different regions. Upper Town was established by European American settlers. Middle Town was settled by Catholic German Immigrants. Lower Town was founded by settlers from upper New England. Separating these settlements were ravines, some of which are still visible today.
You can learn more about St. Cloud's history by stopping by the nearby museum.
This cache was also placed on mine and Pink candy's first anniversary of geocaching. Had I not acquired poison ivy this month I would've been over 1000 finds at the time of its placement. Pink candy at the time was pushing 800! We hope to cache for years to come and hope you enjoy both of our offerings in this area! Seek a micro and BYOP. Some climbing will be required.
squatchmeb had a cache here not very long ago. You may have found it. This cache could also be considered a tribute to his, because his hides persist in some form :) It was obviously archived but you can find it here: Welcome to Cloudy Town
Also, if you're in the area, find the sister cache "Milo and Chevy's Excellent Adventure". FTF = msrubble (thx for the info on squatchmeb's cache)
