CACHE: Cemetery cache in the older section. Park at church or parallel with German Road, parking in the southern, newer section as well. Log only.
HISTORY: Originally called the German Cemetery, it was established prior to 1874 on the Ross farm. It was not shown on the 1863 map. The settlement was made up of mostly German immigrants, and although a cemetery, school and the German Evangelical Church was here, no town ever came to be. The cemetery has expanded 4 more times and is township owned and maintained. The oldest section is in the northern quarter and is the final resting place to several of Oregon Township's first settlers and Civil War veterans. A brief walk around this cemetery you'll see names familiar as names of local roads, just like many in Lapeer County. There is a wall of memorials on the south side of the church. Cache for the school is GC6M064 (now archived but info is there to read).
