Growing up, we had a creek that crossed our road that ran straight as an arrow........ but we never paid much attention to why. Turns out, years ago, the Lapeer County Drain Commission trenched many miles of farm land to help manage surface water and aid farming. The Geer Williams Drain was one of these..... and it runs from Lake Plesant east, then heads north as the Bryant Drain and eventually into Plum Creek and the Flint River. In the spring, Northern Pike from Lake Plesant would spawn and could sometimes be seen swiming up and through this section of creek. As kids, this was a cool sight to see.
I grew up on this road, in the house my father, his friends and my teenage brothers built in 1972. It is still our family home. This was a beautiful area to grow up in and I wouldn't change it for the world.
Please be respectful of the aera :)
