James Mitchell attended Sydney Universiry from 1946 to 1952 where he studied for his Doctorates of Medicine & Surgery. This reseve name after him recognises his services to the Blacktown community.
In 1956 Dr Jim established a surgery at number 32 Bedford Road. In the begining he was the only Doctor in the immediate area and as Blacktown's population grew rapidly in the 1950s & 60s Dr Mithell is said to have delivered an impressive number of Blacktown babies of that era.
