THE GEOCACHE is a family friendly, six inch (15cm) cube lock&lock container, in a camo bag, covered with additional natural camo, hidden at the base of a slim Y shaped tree, towards the back of a bushy woodland area, which can be rather muddy to get to when wet, and also has many tree roots on the surface. There is a seat close by. It is easier to walk round the trees, rather than through them. Beware of muggles with dogs, and close to the geocache there are streams and ponds which can be wet or dry. There are swaps, a paper log and pencils, and plenty of room for Travel Bugs. Wellies are recommended in wet weather. The geocache is deployed with the kind permission of the Countryside Service of Eastleigh Borough Council.
THE VENUE for the HC series is a family friendly loop around Hamble Common, with a short stretch of pathed road outside the common to complete the loop. The paths are a mixture of hard gravel, cut/uncut grass, and woodland. Some entrances might need buggies etc to be lifted, and some sections get very muddy in wet weather, so wellies are recommended, but check the individual cache listings if not doing the full loop. There are seats in the venue, and two picnic areas with tables at Hamble Quay a short walk away. The venue is level but has lots of exposed tree roots in the woods, take care around the mud flats which also form lakes at high tide, some paths, ground, and bridges can be under water. There are likely to be muggles with dogs.
