This cache is one of four placed by Settle Stories around the Town of Settle to introduce some of the old stories of Settle.
The cache is located at the old signal box that was used on the Settle-Carlisle Railway line at Settle. There is parking here and local facilities near by.
A little history... the signal box was opened in 1891 by the then Midland Railway Company and closed for operational purposes in 1984. It was originally sited 150 yards down the line and was moved to it's present location in the former goods yard when it was restored in 1997. It is now a small working museum demonstrating mechanical signalling on the Settle-Carlisle Railway.
