Geocache Description:

Founded in 1966, Lacawac has built its foundation on research, education and preservation.

In this series, you’ll follow a set of clues and coordinates all leading to one place. Your destination is a place once not found by trail, but rather by an unexpected presenter. Founder, Arthur Watres, would take friends and visitors to this particular place and tell stories of his grandfather.

The descriptions provided here are all clues that could help you follow hidden clues. Bring a paper and pen for keeping track of clues. Photo documenting clues could be helpful.

Grab a trail map at the welcome kiosk or visitor’s center.

Completing each challenge rewards you with a clue and coordinates. Complete all the challenges, in order, to find the end cache and log book.

The final location of the cache has been designated a Wild Plant Sanctuary by DCNR. The Wallenpaupack Ledges Natural Area is one of the last undeveloped stretches of land on the big lake, boasting one-mile of preserved shoreline. Fall through early spring are the best times to view the lake from the ledge. The ledges area provides a nice place to bird watch, as you're near the forest canopy. Stay for long enough and you may see wildlife pass through this protected place. Lacawac's founder, Arthur Watres, was fond of this location and often brought guests here, before a trail was ever marked. This cache is placed to honor his dedication of sharing Lacawac with us all and in commemoration of 50 years in research, education and preservation. Please do not rappel, climb, burn, pick, pull or cut while you are enjoying the Wallenpaupack Ledges Wild Plant Sanctuary, known for its diverse species of ferns, lichens, mosses and wildflowers. Here's a 2010 article about the designation. <<http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/dcnr-to-designate-wild-plant-sanctuaries-on-two-areas-of-lacawac-sanctuary-in-poconos-107048443.html>>
