For the DIY person - there always comes a time when you need to make up a batch of concrete.  The following table will help in deciding what proportions you need to mix up to do the job properly.

The nominal proportions in  the table can be translated to anything from cupfuls to buckets to wheelbarrow loads.

For general use - it is always safest to make a 1:3:3 mix - that can be one bucket of cement, and three buckets each of sand and stone.  Add only enough water to make a pliable mix.  More water = weaker concrete!!

Good luck with your next concrete mixing DIY job!
