Another addition to the 650ha Kliprivier Nature Reserve which is located a mere 11km south of downtown Johannesburg. I had setout for a hike with my dad to collect some additional information for my Multi-Cache in the reserve. This being the most direct / shortest route to the cache from where we had parked and also another stunning part of the reserve.
I decided to add some adventure to the hike to the top. All along the way looking for an ideal hiding spot, till finally I had found one. The cache is a small plastic 75ml honey bottle, which has been cleverly disguised to fit into it's surroundings. Your hike will take you along a dry river bed, although the soil in the area does remain moist at times. Rocks have fallen down into this valley in recent times, so always be aware of your surroundings when walking through the valley.
As always, you are asked to handle the container housing with care when retrieving it and to place everything back exactly as it was found so that every cacher visting this cache can have the same experience. Please DO NOT take spoiler photos of the container housing and upload these, as they will be removed, however, feel free to add any photos taken around GZ to your logs.
Hopefully you will enjoy finding this cache as much as I enjoyed creating it. And remember no damage was caused to the environment when creating this cache.
Reason for 3.5 Rating:
The hike to the cache is made up of some significant slops and is quite a distance from either of the entrances to the reserve, you can expect a total hiking time of between 1 - 2 hours depending on your fitness levels. This does not include the time it may take you to find the cache. The cache being cleverly disguised may take a while to locate, and I suspect there may even be some DNF reports. I am in the reserve at least every second day doing some trail running, so I always check, and ensure all my caches in the area are in tact.
