When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Chris Saves: Well, the movie changed (like two days beforehand!...), it rained and ultimately the movie was cancelled... But still, even with the low turnout this was a pretty cool event! We all stayed much longer than we planned and talked geocaching, so that's better than I would have expected things to go considering how much chaos theory was working against us!

Maybe I'll try again next month for another movie night, ha, we'll see. Either way, not a bad little event, thanks everyone! I'll see you all out there during the summer!

Geocache Description:

A quick meet-up / TB swap in Clove Lakes Park!

7:30PM-7:45PM, TB Trade / meet in Clove Lakes Park! I'll be at the flagpole next to the 'Stonehenge House!'

Staten Island has hosted numerous free 'movies under the stars' this year and after having met a few fellow geocachers at a few of them I thought it would be cool to have a little event before they screen one of my favorite movies later on the same evening! You can show up and swap some trackables, or talk geocaching or tell ghost stories (which made more sense when the movie afterwards was about bustin' ghosts...) or spooky geocaching stories (Ha, which shouldn't be hard since Staten Island is home to the Bone Yard, Baba Yaga, Trolls, the Horrors of Jones Woods, a Chupacabra, cursed pirates, Ichabod Crane & the Telltale Heart amongst other ghostly themed caches! ...which also would have made more sense if they were running away from a 100ft marshmallow man rather than a cloned Tyrannosaurus Rex, ha, but still a cool movie!).

So show up, talk some geocaching and stay afterwards for the free outdoor movie if you feel like it or don't and check out some of the nearby caches, either way I'll have marshmallows and cookies ready for those that come!

Fun fact: this event was originally titled "It's... The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man..." but was changed to reflect the change in outdoor movie that will be shown afterwards! For extra fun, here's a mash-up of the two!
