The Corwen Poor Law Union was formed early in 1837 and quickly decided that a workhouse was needed in the region to house 150 people. The plans for the workshouse construction were agreed in 1837 but the new building wasn't completed until 1849. The main building has a cruciform layout and the main entrance (still in use today) is on the the north face onto the road. The workhouse is still much the same as it was in 1837 and the toilets are well worth a visit if you want to see original features!

The workhouse has had a multitude of uses since closing as a workhouse and is currently a clothing and craft shop which you are welcome to visit. However you do not need to enter the workhouse to complete this multi.
