Here you will find yourself at the rear end of the Acton Underhill tunnel. This tunnel is directly above the Parks Way tunnel, which is used for vehicular traffic. So in fact, it's a tunnel upon a tunnel, or a double decker tunnel!
The Acton Underhill tunnel was initially going to be for ANU campus parking, however its underground location provided ideal temperature and humidity conditions, and now houses the Noel Butlin Archives - it is the only location on campus that can accommodate the large amount of archival documents in a carefully controlled environment.
