A Break Along the Ocean Trail Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

DidYouSayBeer: Another duck blind bites the dust. The blinds themselves were removed from the water a good number of years ago, and so have I - I moved to New Zealand since originally hiding this but family have helped me keep this up. The last to search for it said it's not in it's hanging spot under the cover of a restful place to sit, but whenever I visit again, I wonder... Will it actually still be there, holding on and wondering when it may be picked up again?

Geocache Description:

A one stop puzzle for a micro (but not nano) cache as you continue along your walk or bike ride.
NOTE:The first coordinates are only a virtual stop to gather a clue; the final coordinates to work out are the location of the container.

As of 02 June 2017, the Duck Blinds once seen here out in the Currituck Sound and used as a GZ clue to teach cachers something new have be destroyed by storms. A replacement sighting (much more boring, I'll be honest) has been added in order to preserve this cache and still make it more challenging than just looking at satellite imagery to discover the clue answers.

Biking along what we’ve passed a hundred times
I turned my head and gasped.
There was a view I had never noticed,
With the perfect start for a cache.

Look upon this little inlet pond
With hidden sand from the Sound.
Here’s but a simple puzzle for you,
To make this hunt somewhat renown.

How many duck blinds do you see way out in the water?
Are there one, two, three, or four?

How many diamond road signs are there with their backs to you?
Are there one, two, three, or four?
And what position is H in the alphabet?
Now let’s go a bit from shore.

There’s only one thing left to know
Because this poor rhyming needs to stop.
How many duck blinds did you see?
How many diamond road sign backs did you see?
Because X equals H minus those.  (X = H - # diamond road signs facing the opposite direction of you)
