Geocache Description:

Part of a series taking you to some of our favourite places to spend time in Toronto.

Barbara Frum Library is located at 20 Covington Road.  (Lawrence Ave W & Bathurst) The library was originally named Bathurst Hights Library but when the current location was opened in 1992 it was renamed after Barbara Frum, a distinguished broadcasters and journalist.

This lovely large branch is home to the Jewish Mosaic Collection.  This collection consists of English-language books (fiction, non-fiction, children's and teen), magazines and audio-visual material dealing with Judaism and Jewish culture. Subjects such as anti-Semitism, the Holocaust, Jewish biographies, music, Kosher cooking and literature are covered. There are many display areas. On the first floor you will find books displays for Jewish Mosaic books, adult books and children, plus the browsery reading area, a read-aloud story room and a regular story room. On the second floor you will find the Learning Centre, teen and regular adult collections, large study tables, three quiet study rooms and more displays.

Inside the building you will find a number of great features.  The ceilings are huge giving a feeling of space.  The ceiling height also allows for the switchback staircase that takes visitors to the second floor.

For those looking for a quiet place to read, the library has, in front of its large windows, a number of cushioned benches in the children's area, cozy lounge chairs in the teen area and comfortable padded armchairs in the adult areas.

There is parking at the plaza across the street, short term parking meters next to the library and street parking.
