Geocache Description:

Have you ever thought you'd be PERFECT for the Amazing Race?
It's your turn at the first Great Golden Gate Park Geocaching Caper & Brunch. We'll start the day with an optional potluck brunch/social starting at 10:30am at Foley's Gazebo in GGP (the posted coordinates), followed by kickoff at 12:30pm for the GGGPGC competition. Bring some food to share!

Feel free to come enjoy brunch with us even if you can't stay for the rest of the caper!

The event will be FREE to attend with a donation jar to help cover expenses.

The GGGPG Caper will involve teams of 2-5 people collecting clues, completing challenges and taking photos at various stages throughout Golden Gate Park via foot.  We will help match you with a team if you don't come with one!
Golden Gate Park is 1,017 acres; that's 20% larger than Central Park in NYC! The various trails and paths are significantly less hilly than the rest of San Francisco.

RSVP/post a note on this page to hear about upcoming updates!

See Announcements posted in the Announcement log posted by Mickey4Jes!

Please bring a food item to share. We'll supply the plates, silverware and napkins.
Here's a menu of what everyone's bringing. Add yours!

To Bring for the Caper
Individually- Sunscreen, water, good walking shoes, socks that aren't too short, snacks for during the hunt, layers of clothing for the cold, battery pack for your phone & cellphone charging cable
Per team-At least 1 smart phone with data, a notepad to collect clues, and a writing utensil
Optional- geo-related raffle item.

The skills you might need on your team-

You can have more than one skill! ;)
The Navigator- This person can follow any map and any compass and lead you in the right direction!
The Detective- A good detective can find any clue in any location no matter how difficult.
The Curious- A curious human being will look behind every tree, under every rock, and inside of any hole to discover a hidden geocache. The Curious isn’t afraid of any challenge, looking silly or maybe talking to a stranger.
The Scribe- A great note-taker with the ability to keep maps, notes, and clues organized and legible.
The Cinematographer- A great cinematographer captures amazing moments in photo and/or video and shares them with the world.

Transportation to Event
For those coming from downtown or BART, the 5 bus line drops off within 200 feet of the event. The N MUNI Metro drops off at 2nd Ave and Irving and will be a 16 minute walk from there.
See the reference waypoints below for suggested parking. Golden Gate Park is very busy on weekends, so please allocate enough time to find parking. Also John F Kennedy Dr is closed to vehicle traffic from 8th Ave to Transverse Drive on Saturdays.
The park operates a free shuttle that stops at 14 points along John F Kennedy Dr to get you from other points in the park.

RSVP Information
Please RSVP with an estimate of the number of people you're bringing and the food item(s) you're bringing to share! (So we don't end up with 30 buckets of potato salad!)
You can RSVP by clicking on Log A New Visit then change "Type of Log" to "Will Attend."

Thanks to the Yolo GeoRally and North Bay GeoRally for the event inspiration!

We'll have a trackable station for people bringing trackables competing in the HQ Duck Dash
