We have been riding around the foreshores of Williamstown and surrounds and have found heaps of old anchors.
But none have been as deserving of a cache as this beauty.
This style of anchor was developed by the Royal Navy in 1943. It is a stockless anchor of type AC14 (Admiralty Class).
It has superior holding power and was lighter than previous anchor designs.
However, I still wouldn't try and move it - its weight is 6625kg!
To this day it is considered a major step forward in anchor design.
Particularly as it will also hide a regular cache easily!
