It's been a busy summer. No free weekends for Breakfast in either Dublin OR Belfast.
So lets right that wrong, with something I've been thinking of doing for ages. The Swedish Breakfast Weekender! Come to one, come to both, or come to neither. Whichever you want.
Saturday 1st October is the date for the Belfast leg of the Swedish Breakfast Weekender. 2016 has had the summer of unbelievable rampages both in Ireland and abroad so lets get together and gloat/boast about all the stupid things we've done so far this year in the name of Geocaching. And maybe share the odd hint or clue about awkward puzzles. Why not. So come join us early Saturday morning to fill your stomach, have your fill of geochat, and fill your mind with ideas for Saturday caching!
This event (in Belfast) will take place on Saturday, 1st October from 930am - 1100am. That said, we have been known to stay a lot later than that and if anyone shows up after the official end I will of course keep the logbook open. We'll meet in the restaurant of Ikea (go in via the main entrance to the north of the carpark and just follow the stairs to the first floor) at one of the tables. The restaurant opens at 930am and I will have my food and be seated at about 945. Look towards the windows in the corner to the northwest of the restaurant overlooking the runway. If you're eating, I would suggest getting food before meeting the group due to the fact that you can get free tea/coffee (with unlimited free refills) from 930am to 1000am.
nb: I haven't been in the Belfast IKEA recently, and the Dublin one has re-organised the restaurant. Has it happened here too? No idea. But we'll make ourselves noticable anyway. Just look for the rabble.
There is however, absolutely no requirement to buy food or drink at the venue; however I would imagine it is hard to watch other people tearing into bacon and sausages when you're having nothing :) There is plenty of healthier food available, but I just can't resist a good fry....
This will be an opportunity to help travel bugs and geocoins on their way as well as eat a hearty breakfast ready for your own Saturday caching adventures. Bring your own personal coin/bug selection for discovery and bring your questions about that annoying puzzle along too. You may (or may not) get help! If you have any plans for upcoming caches, this event would be a great time to discuss them with the group. If you're thinking of going to your first event, come along! If you're thinking of a days shopping, why not tie it in with an event cache??
As an aside, I still haven't made it to the sports store up the road. I probably never will as I may very well be stuffed up a pipe after this event. If I get a chance, don't let me forget!!
To/from the event:
There is an absolutely incredible amount of free parking in the Ikea carpark so car is by far the best way to get here. Dublin cachers interested in coming should be aware that it is a two hour drive from the M1/M50 junction at the speed limit. There are local bus services in Belfast as well, but I am not familar with the public transport network here. It is a Saturday morning so I'm sure there will be plenty of them.
