Geocache Description:

This was not part of the original Sidjoloo Series of caches.

A micro cache, so bring those tweezers!

This cache is near to one of the entrances to Crossways Gardens.

The gardens were given in perpetuity to the Borough Council in 1950, as a Peace Commemoration Garden by Mr & Mrs Henry Sargant, in memory of the eight civilians who lost their lives in the landmine explosion of 19 Arpril 1941. Further details of the Sargants and the history of Metstham can be found in some of my other caches or by looking here.

The gardens are known to locals by several names, including the green and even the dump, because that's what it used to be! Athough the pristine flower beds and footpaths of my youth are now a thing of the past, it still hosts church fetes, jumpers for goal posts football matches, dog walking and even the odd geocaching event!
