This is a lock box, it really isn't tough to find.
It contains a FTF trackable for the lucky person, swaps and the usual log book and pencil.
This is a really special place with a view to die for over to Balmoral and Lochnagar. This is Auchtavan, a community that ebbed and flowed until it was eventually abandoned in the early 20th Century. You are surrounded by the remains of different phases of habitation from early shielings (small temporary summer dwellings) to the grander Victorian farm house and horsemill.
Thankfully Aboyne Academy pupils recently designed and built a turf bench to investigate & show others how some of the oldest houses across the site would have been constructed.
