Simon Hill is known as the "Shoemaker Trail" because this was the path taken by early shoemakers to Assinippi to catch a trolley to Rockland where they worked in a shoe factory as there was no longer a shoe maker's shop on Norwell Avenue. At night when the shoemakers returned all one could see were lighted lanterns coming and going over Simon Hill. This is why it is called the "Shoemaker Trail. Congratulations to Guscoco for the First To Find! (FTF)
