Serath School Traditional Cache

This geocache was placed near the former site of Serath Ridge School.
The school was open from 1952 until 1970 and following its closure was used a community centre.
In October 2000, the former school was purchased and moved to Regina Beach where it was restored to become the Last Mountain Lake Cultural Centre which opened its doors in June 2002.

Once a small town with a dozen or so homes and businesses, all that remains of this small Saskatchewan hamlet is a few farmhouses and a cairn marking the location of the former school. I remember back when I was very young going with my Grandfather (who farmed in the area) to one of the stores in Serath.
