The Southwest Regional Centre opened in 1961 as a residential program for individuals with developmental disabilities. It closed in 2009 when the province moved to a community-based system of treatment.

Above is an aerial view of what was once one of the largest institutions of it's kind in Canada. It has all been levelled with the rubble destined for grinding to be used in paving. Most of the trees are gone, and in a few years the site will once again be farmland.
