Geocache Description:

Cape Cleveland Light is an active heritage-listed lighthouse located on the northern tip of Cape Cleveland, promontory projecting into the Coral Sea, west of Cleveland Bay and about 40 kilometres east of Townsville.

The lighthouse marks the northern point of the Cape, and the entrance to Cleveland Bay.

The cache is accessible by boat or a by an extremely long, difficult hike from Cocoa Creek. Please be aware that the majority of Cape Cleveland bay is shallow, which can cause problems for boaties with the change of tide.

Be sure to check out tide times and weather conditions before attempting this remote cache in your own vessel.

If that's not an option Sealink ferries now offer half day tours approximately twice a month to the lighthouse. You can also enjoy scenic helicopter rides in addition to the tour. See the related page for more details.

Once you land at the beach there is a short walk up a moderate slope on paved road to the lighthouse.

The cache is a medium size black sistema containing a log book, pencil and small swaps.

Permission has been granted by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS). All standard rules and regulations must be complied with inside the National Park. The Ranger-In-Charge has requested all Cachers check their shoes, clothing and gear for weed seeds to stop the spread where possible. QPWS Alerts

Congratulations to Frullet for the massive effort of an approximately 25km hike in 7.5 hours to secure the FTF and for proving that it is possible to reach GZ without a boat. In doing that he also proved that T4.5 can often much more difficult than T5.
