Independence Day! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

A cache place on July 4th to celebrate our beautiful nation's 240th birthday!

This cache is located on the Judge Morris estate which is part of the White Clay Creek State park system.   It is a beautiful area full of forest trails and wildlife.  The house at the parking area was the home of Judge Hugh  M. Morris who was an attorney as well as federal judge.  The house was built circa 1790.  We placed the cache on July 4th, 2016 in honor of our nation's 240th birthday.  Parking is available at the Judge Morris Estate off of Polly Drummond Hill Rd.  The area is part of the State Park system so payment is required.  It is handled via self-pay envelope, or as we recommend, purchasing a Delaware State Park pass for the year.  It is $35 for in-state residents and $70 for out of state residents. It is well worth it as it covers entrance to all Delaware State Parks.  This cache requires a bit of trail hiking to get to so plan to spend some time.  While you are in the park take the opportunity to grab the other caches that are available.  Take the trail that starts close to the bathrooms.  I have waypointed one spot where the trails come together at a bridge.  Take the Chestnut Hill trail that continues over the bridge.  As you get close you can stay on the trail right until the very end.  The cache is located only about 20 feet off of the trail in a fairly open area. If you choose to enter the park from Upper Pike Creek Rd. Please use the established spur trail off of the road. The trail will bring you to the Chesnut Hill trail near the location of the cache. PLEASE DO NOT BUSHWACK THROUGH THE PARK FROM UPPER PIKE CREEK ROAD! Doing so can be damaging to the surrounding area! Use the spur trail if you are coming from that direction!  Minimal bushwacking should be required.  We hope you enjoy area of the Delaware State Park system as much as we do!  Good Luck!
