A teacher, briefly at Gingkin school in the 1930s, Anne Turner, recalled the prominence of potatoes to the people of the district. Visiting a neighbour with the family she boarded with: "..very soon the conversation turned to growing potatoes. I was astonished! I didn’t know potatoes could get so many things wrong with them or that there could be such a difference of opinion on how to deal with the problem …my hosts grew potatoes and we ate potatoes and potatoes and potatoes."
Before you rush out onto stage 2 of The Road Less Travelled, PLEASE note the following:
- All roads have been picked to be 2WD suitable, IN THE RIGHT CONDITIONS.
- Roads/Forests can be closed due to a variety of reasons. If the road/forest is closed, do not drive on/enter it.
This is NOT a power trail; this is a touring trail designed to be done at a more relaxed pace over a few days. No need to rush, there are plenty of accommodation options along the way for all budgets from free camping and caravan parks to B&B, hotel or motel in some towns or nearby.
