Geocache Description:

***Update 17 Jan 23*** Description updated after multiple observation posts witnessed flashes and smoke originating from the southern tree line.

***Update 30 Sept 17*** Due to a razing of the area surrounding the FOB, the enemy has pushed back its location. Final coordinates are now about 0.25 miles one way, albeit more direct than before.

While defending Forward Operating Base (FOB) Golf Charlie, your team took indirect fire (IDF) from an enemy position nearby.  Your mission is to locate the origination of the IDF to pass to Intel.

Coordinates are for the impact of the IDF.  Thankfully it missed any structure or friendly position and there were no casualties.  The Ground Forces Commander has directed you, Master Geocacher, to locate the origin of the IDF and infiltrate the weapons cache left behind.  HUMINT points to a large mortar tube filled with smaller cluster bomb containers.  The mission begins at the point of impact.  From there, use your TOTT to locate the mortar tube.  But be careful, the enemy has concealed their tracks well and generally stays hidden during day light hours.  Also, with enemy forces surrounding FOB Golf Charlie, a night mission would be prudent.  Intel estimates the max range of this kind of mortar at only 1500 feet, and observation reports indicate the IDF came from the southern tree line.

Once you infiltrate the mortar tube, you must sign your call-sign to the log book.  The mission will thence be complete, however, there is one more additional (and optional) task for you.  Remove one of the cluster bomb containers (micro sized geocache) and plant it as an ambush location for future enemy attacks.  The enemy is well established in the Panhandle of Florida, so no need to limit the geographical scope of your mission.  Also, when re-hiding the containers, list "IDF @ ...." in the cache title to help your fellow comrades in arms scope out the counter attack.

Good luck.
