A walk around the mixed pine, larch and spruce woods of Ben Newe and up to the rocky summit for great views of Glenbuchat, Strathdon and surrounding hills.
My route started from the small car park waymarked just off the A97. I followed the yellow trail from the car park until it came out of the forest to a T junction with open fields ahead. Turn uphill still following the yellow trail but when it turns to the left back into the forest,keep going on the path up between the forest and fields/moorland.
This cache gives you an excuse to stop and admire the views over Glenbuchat as you get your breath back before continuing uphill.
