78viper and I came back out today to explore this area a little more. We used a different launch this time and made it up the creek as far as we could, before we ran out of water to paddle in. There are some MONSTER carp in this stretch.
This strecth of paddle caches is a little different than the ones on Mohawk Lake. The water is much shallower (less than a foot in many places), however there is about 2 feet of silt under you which will make wading next to impossible. There is lots of debris in the water and while we didn't have to portage, we did have to scoot our kayaks over in a few places. The hides are a little higher and a little bit trickier this time out. This paddle may not be for everyone - the water levels can change here and there may not be enough water to paddle here if this drought continues. Stick to the outside of curves and watch for dark things in the water - they may or may not move when you hit them. If you step out, you WILL sink. Fortunately for you, leaving the vessel is not required to find any of these caches.
This particular cache, again, may require the use of a tool. At the very least, teamwork may be required. It is small, and if you have done others along here, you know what to look for.
