Wellington School was a small private school and was founded by John Philip Fogg in 1953. He bought the building (an old Victorian house) with his accrued 'war pay' whilst he was a Japanese POW for four years. The school's motto was Honor Praemium Virtuis (Honour is the Reward of Virtue). After campaigning by staff and parents to keep the school open it was closed in July 1995 and the site was sold to become housing, however the original stone walls of the school remain.
