Loch Gelly is a small Loch lying to the south east of the town of Lochgelly which derives its name from the nearby body of water.
The Gaelic name of the Loch, Loch Gheallaidh, can be loosely translated as Loch of Shining Waters or Loch of Brightness.
Approximately 1.75 km in length from west to east and 0.75 km wide at its maximum breadth..
Installation of the first wind turbine of nine at the Little Raith wind farm was completed in September 2012.
Neighbouring LIttle Raith is the Fife Ethylene Plant, known locally as Mossmorran. This is one of Europes largest ethylene plants and is bordered by the communities of Lochgelly, Lumphinnans, Cowdenbeath and Auchtertool.
