This cache is the largest of the series and is well hidden, Bring your own pen. It is quite a high dog walking muggle area so do be stealthy in your searching.There is a parking layby near the cache. </p>
<p>This is part of my 'Meadow Meander' series. It is a circular walk of about a mile on flat terrain. It gets muddy in the winter. There are two stiles to negotiate. Parking laybys in Hoe Lane. Please park thoughtfully for residents and farm vehicles. </p>
Flansham lies in the angle of the Ryebank rife and Aldingbourne rife. The 'ham' in Flansham, probably comes from the angle being shaped like a bend in the knee or ham, common in Sussex place names. As well as some stunning properties along Hoe Lane, there are some interesting things to look out for. The ancient hedgerows towards the end of the lane can be aged by counting the diversity of woody species in a 30metre stretch x 110 + 30 years. Look out for the heronry between the cycle path and the new relief road. Herons nest early, so can be seen from Feb/March onwards preparing their nests. Last, but by no means least, there is a triangulation station or Trig point amongst the nettles to look out for. Visible when the nettles have died down.
