Geocache Description:

This cache is one of a number of music instrument related caches placed on the southern section of the R540 road in Gauteng province, South Africa.


The cello or violoncello is a bowed string instrument with four strings tuned in perfect fifths. The strings from low to high are generally tuned to C2, G2, D3 and A3. Invented in about 1660’s.

Well known South African cellists are Francois le Roux and Peter Martens.
