Geocache Description:

This is the eighth in a series of caches placed to highlight some great marches in music. This part of the series is along the Stavich Bike Trail, and can be reached with a short hike from either parking spot. This small sized cache is placed in the usual way. Please replace as found. This cache placed with permission from the Lawrence County Department of Planning and Community Development. Congrats to Dr. Cachenstein for FTF.

Years ago, before radio, TV, and the Internet, entertainment was hard to come by. Marches were the pop music of their day. “King Cotton,” by John Philip Sousa, was written for the Cotton States and International Exposition in 1895. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU TRAVEL NEAR THE ACTIVE RAILROAD TRACKS OR RAILROAD TRACK BEDS.
