Kumagaya bypass is a bypass of the extension 18.1km connecting and general national highway No. 17 Konosu Mita, the Kumagaya Takayanagi of Route 17.

熊谷バイパスは、一般国道１７号の鴻巣市箕田と、国道１７号の熊谷市高柳を結ぶ延長18.1kmのバイパスです。
途中の熊谷市玉井（玉井IC）では、深谷バイパスと接続しています。
平成6年に全線4車線化し、平成16年2月に柿沼交差点・肥塚交差点がを立体化して、県北部の動脈にふさわしい道になりました。
柿沼肥塚立体 熊谷バイパスが4車線化した後、熊谷市の柿沼交差点と肥塚交差点で日常的に発生する渋滞の解消が、新たな課題として浮上してきました。
そこで平成12年度に、両交差点を連続的に立体化する事業に着手し、平成16年2月29日に開通しました.
そしてその道路の下には幾つかの地下道があり、この大きな道路を安全に通過することができます。
地元の人でないと見逃しそうですが、意外と便利なので訪れてみてください。
更にこの地下道は国道125号と国道17号の交差点下に位置します。
このため国道125号を跨ぐ道、国道17号を跨ぐ道、そしてその両方を跨ぐ道の全部で3つの地下道があります。
すべてを通行してみると、「あっ、こんな場所に出るんだ！」という気分が味わえるかもしれません。
