Geocache Description:

Minden Murals

with Sammy the Squirrel

Sammy loves to play with geocachers! He has hidden himself several times around Ontario, Canada now, each time, holding a geocache for lucky geocachers to find. Today, after a short tour of the various artistic murals in Minden, Ontario, Sammy has hidden himself in a nice, shady place, somewhere in town. Your job is to follow his footsteps and answer his questions about the murals, in order to gain the final coordinates, which will lead you to Sammy himself! He is holding a bison tube, with a log book in it for you to sign!

Congrats Custodio's on FTF!!

Thanks Chris Baker for the all-important, beta test!!

Sammy just wants to say HI!!  And, he will if you are lucky enough to find him.  He has a bison tube to hand you.  Please sign the log and give the bison back to Sammy, so that he can share it with other cachers to come!

Stage 1 (Posted) Rockcliffe

Here is one of the most famous buildings in Minden! It has been here for many years, and has been visited several times by Mr. thewhytes. Look at the mural on the outside of the building. How many wolves are there near the roof peak? Add this number to the number of bolts that are clearly visible on the part of the plow that might be used to attach the plow to another machine, or a team of horses. The answer to this addition of numbers is 'A'.

What other animals can you find on this, Rockcliffe mural? If butterfly and mouse, 'B'=6, if lizard and spider, 'B'=5, if owl and snake, 'B'=4.

Stage 2 Post Office

Here is Minden's Post Office. You can visit a local business and ask for an historical society pamphlet to find out more about this mural. How many petals on Charles D. Curry's lapel? This same number is also the third digit in the year he was born. This number ='C'.

How many letters in the artist's first name? This number ='D'

Stage 3 Summer Scene

Here is a great spot to buy spirits in Minden. This is also the site of a great mural. In the summer scene, find the number of people standing on the dock and multiply this answer by 2. This number ='E'

How many bears are up a tree? Take this number and multiply it by 2. This product ='F'

Stage 4 Winter Scene

There is a hunter in this mural. He is wearing a cammo outfit, and hunting vest. What is the second digit on the back of his vest? This number ='G'

It appears the snowmobilers are about to eat something. If it is a burger, 'H'=2, if it is a doughnut, 'H'=3, if it is a huge sausage, 'H'=4

Stage 5 Organic Times

There are 12 people, that I could see clearly in this mural. How many seem to be lumberjacks who are clearly dealing with logs in or on the water (Don't count lumberjacks who are not dealing with the water)? This number = 'I'

How many airplanes can be clearly seen in this mural? This number ='J'

Now, take A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I, and J, and make them look like this: N 44 AB.CDE W 078 FG.HIJ. Go find Sammy! Check sum for ABCDE is 27. Check sum for FGHIJ is 17.
