The low, broken cliffs which are generally less than 50 m high show many erosion features such as stacks, arches, caves and blowholes. The varied coastal vegetation on the ledges and cliff tops includes maritime heath, grassland and brackish flushes. The site is of importance as a nesting area for a number of seabird species. During the breeding season, the area regularly supports 95,000 individual seabirds including: Guillemot, Kittiwake , Herring Gull, Shag & Fulmar
The area contains some narrow foot paths on steep cliff edges so extreme care should be taken at all times. Be sure to fully close any gates you pass through and dogs must be kept on leads as there are sheep in the area. If taking young children ensure that they are closely supervised at all times. Sturdy footwear is essential.
