Un po' di Storia
Lungo la strada che va da Cortenedolo a Vico, entrambe frazioni del comune di Edolo, sorge la Chiesetta dei SS. Fabiano e Sebastiano (oggi conosciuta solo come San Sebastiano). Posta ai piedi della montagna in località Costa, la sua edificazione è databile al 1400. Dopo la peste del 1630, che colpì pesantemente queste zone, fu restaurata. Successivamente venne di nuovo abbandonata e per anni è stata lasciata in grave degrado.
Recentemente è stata sistemata, ed è stato chiuso l’accesso al cortile orientale d’ingresso. All’interno sono comunque ancora visibili dei frammenti di alcuni affreschi, sebbene la visita non sia (purtroppo) aperta al pubblico.
Dalla Chiesa si ha una vista sull’intero villaggio di Cortenedolo, così come su parte della valle sottostante.
Come Arrivarci
Recatevi prima alle coordinate del parcheggio (le trovate nei Waypoint), lasciate lì l’automobile e percorrete l’unica strada che va verso est, a piedi o in bicicletta. La passeggiata dura circa 15 minuti, se fatta lentamente, e la pendenza non è eccessiva.
La strada è asfaltata, quindi è accessibile sia ai portatori di handicap (considerando sempre le salite e le discese) sia alle auto (considerando che in corrispondenza della chiesetta non esistono parcheggi, e fermandovi ingombrereste una strada già fin troppo stretta).
Una volta raggiunta la chiesetta, potete decidere di tornare indietro o di proseguire per la stessa strada (altri 10 minuti) raggiungendolo la piccola frazione di Vico, un borgo di 37 abitanti (dati 2011).
Il Geocache
Questo è un GC Traditional, il che significa che le coordinate vi indicano il luogo esatto in cui troverete il contenitore. Una volta che l’avete trovato firmate il logbook, se vi va scattate qualche foto e riposizionate il logbook nel sacchetto (è molto importante per non farlo bagnare; nelle immagini sotto trovate come deve essere posizionato per non rovinarlo) e nel contenitore.

A Bit of History
Along the road from Cortenedolo to Vico, hamlets near Edolo, stands the church of SS. Fabian and Sebastian (now just known as San Sebastiano). Located at the foot of the mountain, its construction dates back to 1400. After the plague of 1630, which struck heavily these areas, it was restored. Later he was again abandoned for years and has been left in severe degradation.
Recently it has been fixed, but the access to the eastern courtyard entrance in no more allowed. Inside fragments of frescoes are still visible, although the visit is not (unfortunately) opened to the public.
From the church you have a view over the entire village of Cortenedolo, as well as on part of the valley below.
Hot To Get There
First, reach the parking coordinates (you find them in the Waypoint), leave the car there and walk along the only road that goes east, on foot or by bicycle. The walk takes about 15 minutes, if done slowly, and the slope is not excessive.
The road is paved, so it is accessible to the handicapped (always considering the climbs and descents) and cars (whereas at the church there is no parking, and stopping here you would stuff an already too narrow road).
Once you reach the church, you can decide to go back or continue on the same road (another 10 minutes) catching the small hamlet of Vico, a village of 37 inhabitants.
The Geocache
This is a Traditional GC, which means that the coordinates will indicate the exact place where you will find the container. Once you have found it, you sign the logbook; if you like take a few photos and put the logbook in the bag (it is very important to keep it wet; in the images below you can find how it should be positioned so as not to ruin it) and in the container.
