I was driving my Taft High Summer School Geocaching Class from a tour of El Saucito Ranch in July when I looked over at this hill and the trucks below it and realized I just had to climb this!!! So today I did. Please bring a pair of binoculars as the view is excellent for spotting wild life. I saw coyotes and elk from up on this perch. You can also see great views of Soda Lake, El Saucito Ranch, American Ranch, Painted Rock, and more. And the hike is quite short despite the very small spot to park near the gate to the northeast. So grab your binoculars or even a spotting scope and come climb this!!!
Afterwards walk over and check out the Trucks of the Carrizo Plain and the old well pump nearby. I was going to plant a cache at the pump, but figured it was less than 528 feet from the trucks to the pump. It wasn't. I shall return (unless someone else beats me to the placement). Happy Caching.
