Geocache Description:

Lychgate is a roofed gateway to a churchyard, formerly used at burials for sheltering a coffin and relatives until the clergyman's arrival. This particular Lychgate was put here in 1937 after the Coronation. Aswardby and Sausthorpe raised the funds for it to be built at Sausthorpe church. They realised that the church already had a nice metal framed gate which they wanted to keep and so instead it was built at the Church Village Institute.
